Welcome to the NYSCD Society of Women Engineers!
Letter from the President
Welcome to the NYS Capital District section of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE)! The 2018-2019 SWE year is over halfway over, and we’ve certainly been busy with our events and programs.
We started off FY19 with an Open House to welcome new faces and say hello again to the returning ones. We also enjoyed participating in outreach activities at MiSci Science Festival, SMIST Science Day, attending the Annual Society Conference in Minneapolis, a joint meeting with Schenectady Toastmasters, and much more.
The momentum will continue this Spring! We recently hosted a technical tour at Ball Corporation in Saratoga, and participated in the Saratoga Stem Expo with our Snap Circuits activity. Soon we will host our signature Wine Women and Chocolate in celebration International Women’s Day and. Don’t miss the upcoming SWE Leadership Coaching Committee live webinar on Communication. More exciting opportunities are bound to pop up during the spring, so check our calendar and newsletter for frequent updates.
We have our 17th Annual Merit Award Dinner on April 25! The Merit Award Dinner is our largest
outreach event every year, and recognizes over 60 female juniors in high school in the Capital Region. We also have corporate sponsorship opportunities available for table reservations and scholarships. More information can be found on the Merit Award page on this website.
Along with all of the fun, and engaging events, we’ve been working on expanding our Leadership
Development Series program. This spring, we will host an LDS with Sherry Finkle-Murphy on financial planning. We now hold the LDS dinners throughout the year and enjoy co-sponsoring some of the dinners with local companies and their Employee Resource Groups. If you or your company are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please reach out to nyscdswe@gmail.com. Additional information can be found on our LDS page on this website.
We have a fun-filled Spring ahead of us, and are excited to share it with you. Please check our website and calendar for the latest information on our events and subscribe to our newsletter. If you want to learn more about SWE or join our listserve, please email nyscdswe@gmail.com.
See you soon!
